It was such an honor to take part in hosting a baby shower for one of my dearest gal pals, Lydia, of Apples and Onions LA. I worked with my sister Boo of Wylie West Creative to create what was one of our most favorite collaborations to date.

The invite had two parts: the actual invite card (which encouraged guests to wear dresses,  hats and gloves) and a custom bookmark which asked guests to bring their favorite children's book inscribed with their words of love in lieu of a card. We set up a "Library" table where guests could add their books when they arrived. This table also included a temporary tattoo bar featuring metallic gold tattoos designed by Rifle Paper Co via Tattly.

In addition to a selection of rosé & champagne, we set up a DIY Loose Leaf Tea Bar featuring six teas from Harney & Sons where guests could make their own natural teabags.

The menu was tea party inspired with a focus on seasonal ingredients. I designed the menu and made all of the savory items myself and then outsourced the pastry side to some of my favorite local bakeries; the jams came from Sqirl, and the baked goods were made by Huckleberry & Rockenwagner Bakery. Oh, and I can't forget the warm miniature glazed and sugared donuts from Krispy Kreme. All of the fruits and vegetables were sourced from my local farmers market.

After lunch we gathered the group for gift-opening and surprised the mother-to-be by having her mother and her mother-in-law both tell their respective birth stories; there wasn't a dry eye in the house. It was a perfect afternoon packed with lots of love and sunshine for one truly special mama-to-be and I was grateful to be a part of it. xx
